  • Hi there I am from Ontario, doing the same stuff that you do day today. Just wondering what kind of software and what not you use to get your videos on ALworld?

  • Still images and drone footage of the finished project is a really nice touch. I noticed the tilt on your bucket is a little fast my thumb acts the same way is their a way to slow those down?

  • I love that this pond has a bit of depth to it! I'm from the left coast where we don't have many ponds and it always seems to me like ponds in the south are way too shallow. However, there may be reason for that. I just don't know. It seems to me that the water temperature in a shallow pond would fluctuate more and be more susceptible to evaporation. It also seems to me as if a shallow pond might also be more susceptible to algae. Feel free to jump in and educate me! THANKS!

  • I have had the pleasure of watching many of your videos and always enjoy your narrative. My little 8 yo daughter asked me why you went backwards and forwards with the skid steer on the dam. I had to explain it was so you could compact the clay to ensure the dam did not leak and if she watched carefully you were side stepping very slightly each time to ensure even compaction. Then she asked why you did not drop the dirt you were carrying ? I said it was to make the skid steer heavier so as to squash the dirt down harder. A bit of a guess on my behalf I must admit :) However for the engineer in me, and the curious mind in her, could you please add a bit more of the physics and the theory behind it as to how and why you do what you do ? Many thanks and I could watch that dirt being moved and the precision with which you wield that bucket with a beer in hand and be a happy man :)

  • That is what you call the "grab and go" style of dirt moving. Just grab a bucketful and go with it. That skid steer really got a workout on this job. Have you had any problems with it so far? It just amazes me what you can do with just a couple of machines...

  • Figure a 4' I'd structure displaces about 93 gallons of water (750 lbs) per foot and one foot of riser weighs 880lbs, plus the base and reveal, I don't think they float. Might move around in a flood condition, but it won't float.
