  • Theses giant boulders are what is left of the last ice age, about 10,000 years ago. They got dragged around by the glaciers and got left there after the glacier retreated.

  • Gotta say : youd think that people w that kinda money might actually get of their asses and at least spray the center of the damn road and maybe even take care of the edge of the road that you took all that time to make maintainable cause that's how you do everything. !! Project came out awesome but for F sales I think some people just got too much money and no real life physical work ambition !!! Glad they're are people like like I guess. Or we wouldn't get to enjoy your videos and critique there lack of maintenance. Lol.

  • Glad you left that holly tree standing. Landowners should try to nourish that tree and let it grow bigger... Holly is one of the most expensive species of wood that is native to the U.S., with retail prices in the $20-30 range for a kiln-dried board foot (that's 1"x12"x12", or 1/12 cubic foot, after drying and shrinking in the kiln). Holly is one of the absolute whitest woods around, and is prized by woodworkers for that reason. Relative to other trees, holly trees tend to be relatively small, rare, and and require special care when harvesting and drying, which also contributes to the high prices for holly wood.

  • The thing that interests me most about your videos, is just how much we are ripped off in central Illinois by our excavating contractors! To hire someone to do what you just showed in this video, would be 3-4 weeks billable with a crew of 3 + a trainee/apprentice plus a supervisor, plus equipment/fuel. I have been in construction 40 years, and it really pisses me off to see just what CAN be done in one day by one operator and a truck driver. I do realize this video was a couple days of shooting.

  • What are the 4 static wheels for on the haul truck? Cheers 👍

Gerry MGerry M2 muaj më parë
    • @Jay Schafer Well. I am from Sweden. Here in Sweden, most trucks have 26 wheels, 2 front wheels, 4 drive wheels, 4 bogie wheels and 16 wheels on the trailer. They weigh 136687 lb and are about 80 ft long.

The new Making it HappenThe new Making it Happen2 muaj më parë
    • Jay Schafer that’s really interesting Jay, thanks! Here in Scotland we don’t have trucks that size 👍

Gerry MGerry M2 muaj më parë
    • Looks like you already got a good answer, but if you ever want to see trucks with LOTS of axles, go to Michigan, or check out the vehicle weight rules in Michigan. Long story short, while in most parts of the US the maximum vehicle weight without any special permits for a standard truck or tractor trailer combination (with 1 street axle, 2 drive axles, and 2 trailer/rear axles) is 80,000 lbs, Michigan lets trucks keep adding axles and have higher legal maxium5 weights... Up to, IIRC, something like 13 axles and 164k lbs max weight, without any special permits, to the point that it's tough to fit any more axles than that under a truck or truck+ trailer. ...And yes, Michigan has badly potholed roads, why do you ask? 😁
