    bradh74bradh749 ditë më parë
  • And that's why you have an emergency overflow spillway. That would have prevented that from happening.

  • Need a bigger pipeline other wise you will have the Same problem

  • You should put a gopro on the arm. And after getting to the end of the video, i agree with others, time to get a spillway. That pipe is never going to cut it. As soon as any debris builds up at the front of the pipe (and it will given the number of trees around there) the pipe will be worthless.

  • This is a really great video. In one single "excavation equipment & construction" video there's at least 7 different kinds of "science" involved. To name a few there's hydrology, physics, mechanics, and weather. So for any younger kids who might think the planning of this kind of project and the operation of this type of equipment doesn't take any kind of knowledge I'd like to advise those kids: "Stay in damn school....get your damn education....and some day you'll get to fix a dam your own damn self." Again letsdig19......this is really a good 2 part video.

And who knows how close the flooding came to the house if water spilled about a foot up through the fence! Sheesh. If you can't maintain your pond without inflicting property damage on others, put in a proper emergency spillway or just get it filled. That thing's dangerous.

  • Up here in rural Maine we all have ponds.. one good thing about them, is we get the local FD to install a Pump Fill station, for fire trucks, and our insurance company ( home owners ) gives us a huge discount ( distance to nearest fire station is a insurance liability question they ask up here)- do you all install or use Fire Truck fill stations at the ponds, down there?? They are really simple pipes.

At least to me it should be straight. and it looks like you thin, it should be straight as well. If I were to say I'd come work for you it'd be one very big joke! I don't know how to run any of the machines you use thus you have no need of me. Unless you want someone to stand around doing nothing all day. ;)

  • You have skills and sorry about the rain taking all your profit away. That's not right. Got a question. Pond is not huge but you do have an access to runoff/creek egress. Why don't they drop that overflow a few feet and increase the size of the overflow pipe? It seems the overflow is just too close to the dam height. A little work and it would aid in flood control so maybe the corps would kick in some money to assist. Anyway, subbed and will look forward to catching up with your vids. Allen from Oklahoma

Seems we never learn from our past mistakes, or the mistakes of others. We are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over in an unending cycle of stupidity. Leave the dam building to the beavers. They at least have got it worked out pretty good.

He said my dam upstream let too much water go and washed his out and sued me . In two weeks I left and went to the owner with a large sum of cash and bought ALL the land he had for sale 120 ac in all and evicted 6 tenets and the preacher by pushing his house up in a pile and was sued again LOL !! Cash up front always !! If you can not do it right,,,Leave and charge for the trip !!

  • The next time you fix that pipe the dirt should be placed in 8 inch lifts and tamped with a very heavy tamper, not rolling over it with that mini excavator. As rain penetrates that fill dirt over time it will settle greatly and pull your pipe apart, you will be doing this job again. The owner needs to install a properly sized concrete spillway or abandon that pond altogether. The next failure could result in liabilities far greater than dirt and rocks in the neighbor's yards.

  • I could see after the fast motion dirt hauling that if one could turn the mini's bucket so it was scooping on the push out instead of pull in on the steep dam wall it would have been twice as efficient pushing the dirt up the hill instead of pulling it down. The problem is if it is awkward for the operator because it is an unusual digging motion after living so long just pulling inwards on the dig. Ya'll can't pull to dig if it just pulls out to thin air being 1/10th as efficient as pushing into the pile. Of course I may be full of whooie because of the quick disconnect on the bucket. I suppose a guy could have the same size bucket but hooked up backwards. The thumb would then be inop.

  • I work as a volunteer on restoring canals in uk Think It needs a bigger wier at that point May be a structure with a long face to take more water, but that costs and as we are volunteers, so the only cost is materials as we can design the structure and we have the machines Or if another wier at another point on the pond could help take the excess water As we have been enlarging wiers as we have found excess water over recent years has burst the canals The original weirs pre 1900's are not capable of taking the excess water So when restoring we are putting in larger spill weirs You clay looks like our soil our puddle clay is usually a green/gray colour and comes as large clumps The pudding is the hardest work it usually, the clumps which are put in place and wetted then pummeled in situ Are you going to do a part 2 the clean up and finish this weir Thanks for the video and explanation
