  • Chris, I have a question. If these ponds fill up so quickly with silt/mud, why aren't these collector ponds dug more than let's say 3 or 4 feet so that this would at least prolong having to re-dredge them so often? Are there state limitations, etc that prevent it, or is it simply a matter of cost?

  • Something about the machine sounds tired, whenever you just dumped a bucket and bring it back around it's groaning quite regrettably. Can't place my finger on it just yet, boom bushings or swing motor/turntable maybe? Hopefully all it needs is a stick of grease, instead of already puking metal into your hydraulics. Oddly enough I couldn't hear it in the outside video, only in cab.

  • @letsdig18 Not an operator here, but isn't there a much bigger bucket for a machine of this power to increase the productivity of moving light materials like this? Especially with multiple moves?

    budlvrbudlvr3 muaj më parë
  • It looks like the digging is no strain on the machine. Is it possible to get a larger bucket?

  • That's the difference between a great contractor and a mediocre contractor. The mediocre contractor thinks I don't have to do this extra work because it'll all be under water and nobody's going to see it. A great contractor thinks it's not that much extra work to do it right the first time and it's the honest way to do business and treat the customer even if you never do business with them again.

  • A good days work done there chris pond starting to take shape instead of looking like a dumping site! So when you have your lunch do you take your own pack lunch? If so what do you like to eat, or do you pick up lunch on the way to your project site? Again what food do you pick up? Keep up the fantastic work chris.👍👍! Oh when one of you have a day off when returning to the project site do either of you say " is that all you've done while I've not been here" 😂😂! Generally have alittle banter/joking between you all.

  • Why is it that the tracks on these excavators are so smooth. Why are they not like those on a bulldozer? The smooth tracks on these appears to cause unnecessary and avoidable traction issues much of the time, as they are sliding about all over the place on modest inclines, etc. Lets face it, these machines are always going to mess the ground up, so why not at least have better traction while you are doing it. Also, why not use the maximum bucket size possible, saving time. It looks like this machine could handle a far bigger bucket. Holly : ) (Edit).... The shots from underneath the truck with the lovely gear noises, etc, were very nice. : ) It would also be interesting to have some footage of what your hands are doing with the joysticks, so people like me can see what movements correspond to bucket/boom/machine movements. : )

  • I have a question. When I run my hoe on a long job like that. I lube everything before, at a lunch break before it cools down and then after before I park it. How often are you greasing? My stuff is older but bearings and bushings was always told extra never hurt on a hoe. Been using these newer battery powered grease guns. Can't decide if they make me lazy and put to much in because it's easier now. What grease and schedule do you keep?

Juha TuomalaJuha Tuomala3 muaj më parë

  • The bottom of the bucket is very useful for many things especially dressing up slopes like you are doing here. Can make it look about like you had the dozer there. Idk why more ppl won't take the extra few mins to do like what you are doing, I had to dig up a pipe today and move it for a pivot crossing in a wet place about like this and with trying to pack it and make it smooth and pretty I prolly used the bottom of the bucket as much as the rest of it. The pipe needs to be longer for the height I had to bring it up to so I really tried to pack the sides of pivot crossing and make it where coming down to the wet spot before and after crossing were packed and sloped w bottom of bucket to where hopefully runoff coming into wet spot won't fill w dirt or wash as bad and the dirt on crossing above the pipe will stay as much as possible. A longer pipe would make it alot easier but I had to work w what we had w the pivot otw to me as I was moving the pipe

I think your question of why some Operators don’t take the time to smooth or tidy up at the end of a job comes down to two things: 1 Ability (or the lack of it) 2 Pride in their work ( or lack of it) Neither of those could ever be questioned where you are concerned 👍🏼 I suppose it’s the same the World over as you tend to get what you pay for in life. Certainly in Construction 😬

  • A few guys have said it on here that you gotta have an eye for finishing a grade right. I ran a Terex twin earthmover when I was 15 years old for the summer. Awesome job for a 15 year old. The owner of the company had is 22 year old son working for him as well. In the prairies, we did dugouts and smaller ponds almost solely with the earthmovers and a bull dozer to finish. The owner eventually tried to get me in the bulldozer because I could finish a pond as well as his kid, but I was using the Terex twin and he was finishing with the bulldozer. He always said his kid didn’t have an eye for finishing the job. I ran a gradall the next summer and then started taking over the Ranch in earnest when I was 17/18 years old. I don’t think I would have been the best operator over time because I was young and didn’t have the nerve you do for taking calculated risk. That was until dad passed and I was running the ranch on my own!!! Hahaha! Glad I had a d*mn good foreman! I paid him the same out of the farm each year as I took for myself!! He was definitely worth every penny. I am sure your uncle feels the same about you as well! Thanks for sharing Chris. You are a master at what you do. When it came to equipment, I could run it, but mastered nothing.
