  • Question for anybody: When you have a fire like that don't you hurt the soil or dirt for house building? In other words, it's not healthy for the land to have a large hole that has been dug out with burned wood to occupy the space for the houses foundation, etc. Maybe they would like to build a outside pool? Thank you for allowing my question for all of you. I have wondered about this for a long time...

At 19:39 you sure can tell by the color of the trees which corner the ash piles and pit were in. Yeah, a little rain'll make that disappear.

Oh yeah and is there a reason why the bigger excavators don't have push blades like the smaller ones ?Just curious. Understand if you don't answer. May be none of my business. God Bless

Ian WillIan Will4 muaj më parë
    • Subsoil, rather than bedrock. The dark layer a few inches deep is topsoil, which is what you grow stuff in. The subsoil underneath is invariably white-ish due to lack of organic matter, and compaction of everything on top of it.

  • When you were digging the hole for the ashes I first thought, see if you can get through that hard soil then fill it, the hole would let the ground above that hard stuff drain but I realized that would create a sinkhole in time.

Jaqui GreenleesJaqui Greenlees4 muaj më parë
    • @jcadult101 yup, but if the water was able to flow through the hole, then it would erode underneath it creating a cave or sinkhole.

Jaqui GreenleesJaqui Greenlees4 muaj më parë
    • As the wood rots, it's going to sink anyway. Since the hole is down in the hard layer, it will collect the water that is stopped by the hardpan and will help decompose the organics.
