  • Good to see the logs headed to the sawmill, and the pulp mill, rather than the landfill, chipped up, or burned in a pile. Even if there isn't a big mill near the job, I can almost promise that there is a smaller mill like myself, that woul take the logs, rather than see then go to waste.

It was almost a relief to see the camera angle look back to show you'd arrived in the dump truck, because it had sounded a bit loud and clunky on your drive in. I'd been thinking that surely wasn't Chris' shinwy new pick-up truck sounding like that!

Miles and miles of train cars leaving out everyday for the past 8 years. Many of men lost their lives and many more lost arms and legs making those pipes. India ran company didn’t shut down for any American/Christian Holidays. Is that by chance supposed to be the new pipeline running from Canada to the Gulf? Keystone Pipeline??

  • Chris, I love how you're constantly looking around while working, assessing the surroundings at all times. That makes sure everything is as safe as you can make it. I've never operated any heavy equipment beyond my tiny Kuboda BX23s, but there are tips to be had from watching you. Checking my surroundings is one skill that I really need to work on as I've managed to do some pretty dumb things. I imagine the stakes are much higher on the equipment you operate. Stay safe and keep on digging!

  • Actually i see now. The pine aint worth shit. Its the other hard woid thats worth somethi g now that i see you are unloading the hardwood

    Vaughn HillVaughn HillMuaj më parë
  • So the hard wood is worth more than the pine?

    Vaughn HillVaughn HillMuaj më parë
    • Mainly not maybe

      hd1987hdhd1987hdMuaj më parë
    • Soft wood (pulp wood) is used maybe for chip board or paper products. Hard woods can be used for lumber products for furniture and the likes.

      hd1987hdhd1987hdMuaj më parë
  • So pine lumber there aint worth anything. You would think if they make lumber out of it that it would be worth alot more

    Vaughn HillVaughn HillMuaj më parë
    • They farm pine down south. All over the place. Clear cut a set field and replant. Move on to the next one and rotate through so that you are back at the first one in about ten years. That way you get nice perfect straight trees all the same age and close to the same size for your normal framing lumber. Fast growing and much better than these wild trees. The hardwoods however take a lot longer to grow and usually come from wild grown wood lots on primary grain or animal farms and such. Much more expensive to grow and harvest. We have Oaks and Walnuts here in Missouri that are sixty, seventy years old or more to get to harvesting size. Pine is not much in value with the big lumber companies farming it from the Carolinas to Georgia to East Texas in huge tracts of straight rows all the same age and undergrowth controlled. Oak, Walnut, and Hickory are a whole other thing here in the Midwest and South. Lots of other regional woods also that depend on where you are at. Also by spacing the rows to the mature canopy size when they plant those fields, the trees grow straight because they all get even light. All plants will grow towards the light and if uneven they will bend to maximize their sun time. Best straight lumber comes from farms. That is why a lot of those little skinny bent trees go to pulp for your fancy wiping papers and paper towels and such. Guess some goes to make products like OSB sheets and other things these days but probably not the little pulp trees. Hope this helps.

    • I think there is more darn pine in the U.S> than the next three trees put together. Pine is invasive.

Well, I was working out in the shop this morning when I went one-on-one with a nest of the nasty critters. I grabbed a can of Brake Clean and gave them a shot... Wow! Stopped them dead in their tracks - like RIGHT NOW!! Have a good one, friend.

    Carl McLellandCarl McLellandMuaj më parë
    • Brake cleaner is just ether same as starter fluid and was used very carefully as an anesthetic back in the fifties for surgery. I remember the little paper cone over mouth and nose as they dripped it drop by drop on the paper until I went under for tonsils taken out. Tricky stuff on a little kid back then. Straight dose will definitely kill, but some on the edges of the mist might just pass out and revive later.

Chris you need a minimum of 2 and maybe 3 on those logs..if your using ratchet straps..they want chains used on them..u better check with DOT in your area..those tickets get expensive.not to mention if someone cuts you off or you need to stop fast you'll wish you had more tie downs..

I'll bet after seeing that tree growing on top of that big rock that If you get to haul the rocks away there may be enough for a month of rock hauling 👷 I hope when they blast that whole site that you get plenty of videos. I'll bet that doesn't happen on a Sunday morning. Also hope the rocks end up being broken up into liftable pieces. Maybe You could get Charlie's rock crusher For more side money...logs and top soil and maybe now hard rocks. You could Place that at the ends of allot of culverts.
