  • Us old folks know what you are calling a pan as a Scraper or Self-loading Scraper and the item that is called a grader was known as a Motor Patrol Grader or Auto Patrol Grader. Road graders were drawn by horses, tractors, or steam traction engines and not self-propelled whereas a Motor Patrol and Auto Patrol Graders were self-propelled. Now Cat just calls them motor graders. And yes, I'm old enough to have operated a tractor drawn road grader. Both as the tractor operator and as the operator of the manual control wheels on the grader. And there was no seat on the grader. You stood up the whole time you were using it. So break and lunch times were always looked forward to.

  • I worked for Volvo Trucks North America (now retired) and had the opportunity to visit the Volvo Construction Equipment ‘sand-box’ in Asheville NC. I got to drive the front end loader, the huge haul truck, and the articulated truck. Sitting in the cab of the articulated truck you can see the front tire. Amazing that you turn the steering wheel but the front tires don’t move. The you realize it bends in the middle. With your skill level you should get a contract with Volvo todo seminars for new equipment owners.

  • Maybe it's deeper than it looks, but it sure looks to me like the overall pond is going to be SHALLOW! Like maybe 4 to 5 feet average? I guess I'm used to lakes that are 30-40 feet deep (or more) in the center. I'm not from the land of ponds.

  • I've been doing dirt work for a number of years. Mostly as a truck driver, but also as an equipment operator. I work with a number of different contractors on a number of different jobs. Every once in a while I get to work a job where an operator/site foreman REALLY knows what they're doing. You sir ............ are obviously one of those guys. Not anybody can run a machine, even fewer can do well and the select few can do it at the level you do. You do good work!! If I worked closer to where you are, I'd beg you for a job! Take Care ........

  • Great job! I just realized that this is the area where you originally started earlier this year, clearing tree stumps that was on the left side of road that looked like crap that was accomplished by another crew! And Tim ( I think that was his name that worked for you) was hauling up that road that you were standing on flying the drown. And you had to fix the road back b/c it was a wet year for ya. I believe this is correct, but I know I can’t remember things like I did in my younger days!!!!🤣🤣🤣 Looks amazing, Chris! Great job to all of ya’s!

And those boards look kinda cheap , there gonna expand pretty quickly and leak also apart from the fact there also only good for about a year ? I think you wasted all that good work on a cheap finish

Today I went back to your July day 1 digging video and saw the enormity of the disaster, including the reason the trees had to be removed. I'm now binge watching the progress. Fantastic work!

  • With the logging, the roads, the big pond, the little pond, the dam, the spillway, and the house site it's easy to see why the original contractor got overwhelmed and started digging random holes and burying things. It's a good thing they brought in experts to salvage and finish the project.
