  • What was wrong with the sidewalk ? Why did you smash it up ?

  • In the past, when I needed to move pieces of walk. I score the joints with saw, drill two holes in slab at an angle opposed each other. Drive two pieces rebar bout 2' apart , bend them over and attach a chain , then lift entire piece out. Saves rock cushin. Works well in sensitive areas. A little labor but very efficient up against store front or pipes.

  • There is little chance of getting any extra payment for re-instating the sidewalk the The Client draws up the contract not the contractor and they will have made that re-instatement a part of the contract on the initial tender documents. I suspect letsdig won this job on the hope that protecting the sidewalk as adverse to replacing it would save money, so put in a lower bid. May have done this job at a loss or at best broke even.

  • it's not bad for winging it....but get lasar or a STRING..to get the side walk more STRAIGTH...or gig it a little WIDER..So the frammers has room to work not have to gig as much to make finer adjustments. Trust me..ive framed sidewalks...Done different dirt work. It's a pain in the arss sometimes...Dig and repack the same damn 100 feet hole for weeks. And of course..there always has to be a tree or hyrant in the way.lmao you dont want it cati wapus...it'll look like SHIET when you're WALKING/USING the sidewalk.

  • A question: In Sweden where I live we nearly never use concrete on pathways or pavements. Is it cost or summer heat you use it instead of asphalt or tarmac? We usually use asphalt, paving stone or prefab reinforced (10 tons wheel pressure) concrete paver, all laid with small machines. We also use ½-1" steel sheets with chain lift holes to protect surfaces and they are surely reusable! :D

    • @Skorpy Nekomimi Thank you for your answer! Can be a difficulty to do the right choice between tactile stone for blind persons or skateboarders at a pedestrian crossing! :D

    • Not everywhere in the US uses concrete. Some places have paths made out of local stone (thoughtfully left covered in sharp bumps in case someone falls over on it), or proper tarmaced ones.

Could I get some clay and line the bottom like y’all do? Just wondering brother! I’d appreciate your input on the matter! Before I fill it in!

I got too old to deal with it now as much as I’d love to have it but now I realize that I just need to back fill it! It’s about 300 +gallon pond and was my dream, just never got the money to finish it! So I guess it would be nice to rent a mini to play with and fill it in! lordhoho1lordhoho13 muaj më parë
    • The rip rap I use is either granite or limestone. The concrete could work alright but wouldn't look as good and he'd have to break it up more than it is. Plus, he'd be tearing up the base under the sidewalk driving back and forth, so it would be more work getting the sidewalk back in. All in all, I'd say more labor breaking up the sidewalk and the looks would be the biggest reasons I wouldn't do it like that.
